{Ugly Week - Friday, September 29, 2006}

The past week has been horrible for me. The internet connection has been so messed up that we were getting disconnected even when we were downloading at 32kbps. Yes, that is slower than dailup 56k which was the technology when I was in sec 4. So unless you would like to call the iinet hotline 20 odd times hoping for a solution that never comes, get bigpond or optus instead.

So basically, that's the reason why I log in and out of msn like a nutcase if I am online at all. There was a day however, where the connection wasn't too bad. Then I got a message from Charisse and we started bantering about stuff. She also told me things which I really didn't want to hear even though I am glad that I did. I see myself like Neo in the early part of the Matrix. Running from problems and evading things you know but pretend not to.

You mean I can dodge bullets? No, I'm saying when the time comes, you won't need to dodge them anymore.

The next bad news which hit me was that my KPMG internship application was rejected. I got this email one day after getting my mid-sem marks. I wasn't too happy with that either. I guess it's another one of those wake up calls for me. Anyway I know there's nothing in it for me looking into the past.

Heh, I was just reading my Managerial Accouting text in preperation for another exam on tuesday and I came across a topic. I started thinking to myself:

Life is like relevant costs - expected future costs that differ amoung alternative courses of action. We focus on the future because every decision deals with the future and nothing can be done to alter the past. Focus on now, dont lament on the past. It'll eat you up like a hungry toad. Hungry toads are ugly and have warts. Hop away hungry toad...

I got tons of photos and they are all over the place. I've been busy with work so I haven't had time to arrange them. I'll just put these up for now =)

{Building a Career - Wednesday, September 20, 2006}

got an email which I thought was pretty cute and decided to share it with you guys enjoy =)

Put about 100 bricks in no particular order in a closed room with an openwindow.Then send 2 or 3 candidates in the room and close the door. Leave them aloneand come back after 6 hours and then analyse the situation.

If they are counting the bricks, put them in the accounts department.

If they are recounting them, put them in auditing.

If they have messed up the whole place with the bricks, put them in engineering.

If they are arranging the bricks in some strange order, put them inplanning.

If they are throwing the bricks at each other, put them in operations.

If they are sleeping, put them in reception.

If they have broken the bricks into pieces, put them in informationtechnology.

If they are sitting idle, put them in human resources.If they say they have tried different combinations, yet not a brick has beenmoved, put them in sales.

If they have already left for the day, put them in marketing.

If they are staring out of the window, put them on strategic planning.

Last but not least, if they are talking to each other and not a single brickhas been moved, congratulate them and put them in top management.

{Convo - Tuesday, September 19, 2006}

Curtin's one week break starts next week, but I've already started it early when my family came down to Perth for my convocation. On Friday, I went down to the airport to pick them up, finalised their accomodation at Trinty and rushed off to my Taxation exam. I've got a bad feeling about this one =(

Spent the rest of the week bringing them around, it was great. Despite the forecasts of rain during the weekend it didn't. What a blessing (except for the farmers)! Anyway, the weather was fantastic, amplifying the scenic greens Perth has to offer.

Convo last night was really fun! All of us took photos like mad! Pity we didn't really celebrate after. I went for chili mussels supper with my mom and sis, came home and crashed. I have heaps of pics and I'll upload them soon. Anyway, gotta start studying for Thrusday's financial accounting mid sem. Gotta nail this one, wish me luck!

{Crap Lah - Monday, September 11, 2006}

I was damn suay over the past few days lah. Broke my car keys on Friday then I broke my spare keys at BP on Saturday. The most uncanny part was, as I slotted my key into the keyhole, a thought raced through my mind and I asked myself, "what would happen if this key broke?" True enough, it did so I was left with no other choice but to get my car towed home. That has set me back on my Tsubi jeans by $160. At this rate, I think I'll never be able to buy them =(

Anyway, I managed to find a keysmith this morning who was able to cut new keys from the broken halves. So my dear Suki is back on the road. Anyway this week is going to be really packed for me. I've decided to attend a CPA seminar tomorrow night, study for an exam on the 15th (which also happens to be the day my parents come to Perth for my Convo). Anyway I'm really excited about that. I can't wait!

Alright, I'm going to take a quick break then get back to work. Laters!

{Keep the Faith - Thursday, September 07, 2006}

You know how on bad days, every bloody thing goes wrong and you become a living testimony of Murphy's Law. Conversely, there are days when you wake up and oh my, everything just works like a splendid dream where everything you wished to happen, did. For me, today was one of those days. I can't contain my joy and I just had to put this post up to remind myself (and many others who trudge in constant dystophia) that days like these DO happen.

{Taxing - Wednesday, September 06, 2006}

It's panic time. Mid-sems are just around the corner for me and in fact I have an exam on the same day my family arrives. Today after my Taxation seminar the tutor reminded us that next week we would be running through revision questions in preperation for our exam which follows shortly.

Speaking of the Tax seminar, this was one of the hardest 3 hour block I had ever needed to sit in. Usually, I quickly grasp what the teacher is explaining and find various legislations easy to understand but today I just could not keep up. I know this sounds weird but I could have sworn that the girl sitting beside me was flirting with me =/. I mean when I came into class and sat down I could see from the corner of my eye that the girl beside me was glancing at me. Could I have forgotten to zip my pants? So I picked up my water bottle, walked out the class room, and pretended to go fill it but I went to the toilet instead just to check everything was in order. It was. When I got back in and was about to take my seat, she was looking at me again. So this time, I looked back, smiled and said hello. We then we engaged in some gibber jabber and exchanged names, nationality, what went on over the week break, you know, regular stuff like that. Then being the social reject I am, I decided to pretend to read my notes when the conversation went dry.

Anyway, during class she...

Bah, never mind it probably was just my imagination. Back to Boston Legal! Will update soon =)

{Mad Mad Monday - Monday, September 04, 2006}

Today I went for trials for a barista/store keeper position at a cake store. This meant that I finally got to learn how to use a coffee machine! I also quickly familiarised myself with the vast array of cakes, pies and sandwitches they served in the 3 hour ordeal. Anyway, I really pray that I'll get this job, replacing my current pizza one. While replacing Pizza is a daunting task (and I'm sure my good friends from CJC couldn't agree with me more), in the end, it's really all about the dough (pardon the pun). While the delivery job is easy, this one pays double! There's no turning back especially when I'm so broke. Eyes on the pair of grey Tsubi jeans, hoping that soon I'll be able to save enough to buy them doesn't help much either.

Anyway, I'm really really tired. A lot of stuff worthy of blogging happened today but just too exhausted to rummage through my tiny brain in recollection. Gotta take a quick shower, run through a couple of topics, and follow up with the graded online quiz which has to be done by tomorrow. Laters.

{First Blood - Saturday, September 02, 2006}

First blood- the term used when a team first makes a hero kill and it was also our team name for the tourney. Luckily every game we played in, we managed to get first blood. It was as consistant as me losing every single coin toss in which I called 'heads' three times and it perpetually landed on tails!!! So much for 50-50 lol.

Over fri and sat, I lead a team of players in a DotA competition . This was the first time any of them played competitive DotA. I guess, they did a fantastic job for first timers because we actually made *cough* 4th place.

Bahhhh. Sad. I played so well through out the tourney too. Team mate's girlfriend who was outside watching the match with the rest of the referees and spectators said that they had the screen focused on my hero and clapped when I made a kill. lol!

If only had one or two more experienced players, we would have made it to the finals. In any case, I was happy overall. I made many new friends, was honored as players watched on but more importantly I kept really calm even when my team mates did silly things. I know in the past I would get so frustrated and start scolding or God forbid...swearing but it definitely wasn't the case. Anyway, it was a fantastic experience for us and hopefully we'd be better prepared for future games. I also will have replays if anyone is interested. GJ guys. GG =)
